The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Banana Caramel Bars

ingredients
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup margarine, cubed
1 large egg, beaten
2 medium bananas, extra ripe
1/2 cup caramel topping
directions
For crust, combine flour, sugar and baking powder in a bowl. Cut in margarine with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Slowly stir in egg, mixing with a fork until crumbly.
Pat half the mixture in 13 x 9 inch baking pan to form crust.
For filling, mash banana. Blend bananas with caramel topping. Pour over crust, spreading evenly. Sprinkle remaining crust mixture over filling. Pat gently.
Bake in 375 degrees F oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on rack. Cut into bars when cooled.
