The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Chicken wings are marinated in a soy sauce and rice wine mixture. They are then stir fried with ginger, garlic, spring onions, and fermented black beans until tender.

10 chicken wings, bone in
oil, for frying
5 ounces chicken stock
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
1/2 tablespoon spring onion, chopped
1/2 tablespoon fermented black beans, chopped
Marinade
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine
Mix marinade ingredients; add chicken wings. Marinate at least one hour.
Chop black beans well, put into bowl.
Cook chicken in well seasoned wok, adding oil. Brown until tender. Add ginger, garlic and onion; stir quickly. Add black beans, stirring constantly. Add 5 ounces chicken stock, bring to boil; simmer for 15 minutes.
Serve over rice. Good cold or reheated.
