Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Easy recipe and tasted great but cooking time was off for me. Recipe said 40 mins but cake looked overdone after 35 mins. Wish I had checked it sooner. Edges were hard and cake was a bit dry. Next time I will lower temp to 325 and watch cooking time after 30 mins. Lovely aroma in my kitchen!
I have been searching for years for a receipe for applesauce cake that I lost. It was my son's favorite when he was younger. After scouring hundreds of receipes in cookbooks, magazines & online, when I found this one tonight, a spark ignited. I think this may be it, I hope so anyway. Thanks for sharing. I'll be making it Christmas Eve and it will be our Christmas Day dessert. I will let you know if this was it. We'll know. Happy Holidays and thanks again for sharing.
