Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

What do you do wiyh the cheddar cheese?
Does "layer the green beans, onion rings and water chestnuts" mean several layers or three layers (one of beans, one of onions, and one of chestnuts)??

I am 35 years old and every year for Thanksgiving dinner my mom would make green bean casserole. Every year I would turn up my nose and not eat it. Last year I decided I wanted to help and make a dish. I got online and searched for a green bean casserole recipe. I found this one and thought wow that sounds good, I would even eat that. So my husband and I made it and took it to dinner. It was a huge hit especially with my mom! It's now the dish I'm in charge of making for holiday dinners. Thanks!
