This shredded slow cooker recipe is unbeatable for parties. Beef and pork simmered with brown sugar, vinegar, and chili powder make a sweet and tangy sandwich filling, and hopefully some leftovers too.
1 1/2 pound beef stew meat, cubed
1 1/2 pound pork, cubed
2 cups chopped onions
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 teaspoons chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 can (6 ounce size) tomato paste
16 sandwich buns
Add the cubed meat and onions to the crock pot.
In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, chili powder, salt, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste until well mixed. Pour over the meat and stir gently to coat the meat in the mixture.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or until the meat is very tender.
Shred the meat with two forks and stir back into the sauce. Pile the meat on the buns and serve with any desired condiments.

I tried this recipe without testing it first to serve at a family gathering. I doubled it in a large crockpot. I substituted chuck roast for both the beef and pork...using a total of 6 pounds of beef cut into 1 inch cubes and doubling sauce ingredients. The meat shredded easily after cooking the recommended amount of time. This was perfect for the large crowd and the left overs were very tasty too! I've made it twice since then. It's gotten many compliments each time. Thanks for the delicious recipe!
