It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Fresh broccoli and cauliflower are mixed with raisins and sunflower seeds in a creamy dressing to make a side salad that will have everyone requesting the recipe.

1 pound bacon
1 head broccoli
1/2 head cauliflower
1 medium red onion, chopped fine
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
Cook the bacon until crisp in a skillet over medium heat. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place on paper toweling to drain. When cool, crumble coarsely.
Meanwhile, chop the broccoli and cauliflower into small pieces and place in a bowl. Add the onion, raisins, and sunflower seeds.
Combine the mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar in a small bowl and mix until smooth. Stir the mayo mixture and bacon pieces into the salad and mix well. Cover the bowl and chill for 1-2 hours before serving.

Delicious!

This is a classic salad that is always a hit wherever I take it. Sometimes I omit the raisins depending on who I'm serving it to, but usually I make it exactly as written.

This is my go-to dish when invited to a barbecue. We like ours a little less sweet, so I just add a bit less sugar. Last time I made this was for an office potluck; I have several colleagues who don't eat bacon, so I left that out altogether, and it was still great. People enjoyed it so much that an email went out to the whole company asking for the recipe.

Our family has been making this recipe for years and we always get rave reviews! It is absolutely delicious! I am a vegetarian, so I substitute bacon bits for the bacon and it comes out just great.
