Change up your chicken wing routine with a spicy, sweet twist. These crock pot spicy honey-lime chicken wings are a game-changer for wing enthusiasts.
Rub
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground coriander
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Wings
4 pounds chicken wings, cut into wings and drummies, tips discarded
Honey-Lime Sauce
1 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoon grated lime zest
1 tablespoon minced chipotle pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine the rub ingredients (brown sugar, coriander, cumin, salt, and pepper). Even rub the mixture over the chicken wings making sure to coat them completely.
Add the wings to the crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours or until chicken is cooked.
Preheat the broiler.
While the broiler is heating, mix the sauce ingredients (honey, lime zest, chipotle, and salt) in a bowl.
Place the chicken on a rack over foil on a rimmed baking sheet. Place the baking sheet about 10 inches from the heating element and broil until the chicken is crisp, about 7-8 minutes. Turn the chicken halfway through the cooking time.
Remove the chicken from the oven and brush the wings with some of the honey-lime sauce. Return the baking sheet to the oven and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Brush the wings with the remaining sauce and cook for 5 more minutes or until the sauce has started to caramelize on the wings.
Serve the wings hot.
