It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Like your wings sweet and spicy? A triple threat of heat from hot sauce, chiles, and cayenne pepper is counteracted by a sweet touch of honey in this slow cooker recipe.

2 pounds chicken drummies, thawed if frozen
1/2 cup chili sauce
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 drops hot pepper sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
Pat the chicken drummies dry with a paper towel and place on broiler pan. Broil 5-6 inches from the heat for 8-10 minutes, turning often, until chicken is browned. Place in 3 or 4 quart crock pot.
Mix remaining ingredients in a small bowl and pour over drummies. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. These can be held for 1 hour after the cooking time on low.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

I used this recipe with regular chicken drumsticks (not the wing drummies) and just adjusted the cooking time. Really good.

Broiling these before cooking gives the chicken skin better texture. I also broil them after they are cooked just to dry out the sauce a little so it's less soupy. They have just the right combination of sweet and spicy.
