You'll be a superstar at your next party with these wings. Root beer, liquid smoke, and ginger combine for a unique marinade and sauce that gives these wings an irresistible tang.

1 can (12 ounce size) root beer
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon Liquid Smoke
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 pounds chicken wings, tips removed, separated into flappers and drummies
In a large bowl, combine the root beer, ketchup, honey, oil, vinegar, pepper, garlic, Liquid Smoke, ginger, and nutmeg. Add the wings, and stir to coat in the marinade. Cover the bowl and let the wings marinate in refrigerator for at least 8 hours.
Preheat the grill to medium heat.
Drain the marinade from the bowl into a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat to a strong simmer. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
Place the wings on the grill and cook for 15-25 minutes or until cooked through, turning occasionally, and basting with the sauce.
Serve the wings with any remaining sauce.
