Pastel De Chile Verde (Green Chile Pie)

ingredients
8 whole green chilies (canned works)
1/4 pound sharp cheddar cheese, cubed (a lighter white cheese can be used also)
7 eggs
3 tablespoons cream or half and half
3/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 cup chopped onions
Optional Additions
sliced tomatoes
sliced olives
your choice of cheese
directions
Spray pie plate with nonstick spray.
Slit chilies open lengthwise and shape chili in pie plate to form the crust (pointed ends toward center).
Place all remaining ingredients in bowl and mix together (excluding tomatoes, cheeses, or other variety additions).
Layer tomatoes, olives, and so on, then pour egg mixture over chilies and bake at 325 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until pie is set.
