Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

ingredients
3 potatoes, sliced thin
2 onions, sliced thin
4 carrots, sliced thin
1/4 cup raw rice
14 ounces green peas
1 pound pork sausage
10 ounces can tomato soup
1 can water (soup can)
directions
Grease a deep casserole.
Arrange layer of potatoes, then onions, then carrots, then sprinkle on rice and pour in peas and their water. Top with sausage arranged in a wheel-spoke fashion. Add soup mixed with water; season to taste.
Cover casserole and bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour. Turn sausages and bake uncovered for 1 hour more.

This is such a great meal....I've made this a number of times. The baking temperature is wrong though, bake covered at 350 for one hour and then flip sausages and bake another hour uncovered. I tried baking at 325 and it took almost 3 hours to get the veggies cooked
