Slow Cooker Italian Cheese Dip

ingredients
1 pound hot or sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
1 package (32 ounce size) Velveeta process cheese product, cubed
1 jar (16 ounce size) chunky salsa
1 tablespoon ground fennel
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground anise
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
directions
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, stirring to break up the meat, until it is cooked through. Transfer the sausage to the crock pot.
Add the cheese, salsa, fennel, garlic powder, anise, and basil to the crock pot. Mix well.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the cheese is melted and the dip is heated through.
Serve hot with bread slices.
