under 30 minutes
ingredients
4 ripe apriums, cut into wedges*
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 pinch salt
directions
* An aprium is a combination of an apricot and a plum. Found in the produce section of your grocery store.
In a medium cast iron or heavy bottom skillet add butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Over medium-low heat, melt and stir to combine.
Place aprium wedges in a single layer on the butter/sugar mixture. Add lemon juice and salt and grate nutmeg over top of fruit. Cook for about 8 minutes, stirring after 5 minutes.
When done, put into food processor and process until smooth, about 30 seconds.
Use as a sauce for good vanilla bean ice cream while still warm. If you refrigerate this, it thickens and becomes a luxurious butter for breakfast or brunch.
cook's notes
When I saw this beautiful light yellow fuzzy fruit I was intrigued. It feels like a peach but is smaller than a plum.
It has a surprisingly strong flavored juice. I put it on my ice cream at night and by morning it was thick and velvety and put it on my toast.

What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
