- #23314

over 5 hrs
ingredients
3 pounds round steaks (thin)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 cup onion, chopped
3/4 cup bacon, chopped
1/4 cup water
directions
Trim fat off steaks. Season with salt and pepper. Mix onion and bacon, spread over each steak.
Roll steaks (as you would do for a jelly roll), tie rolls tightly in several places with a string. Put steaks into slow cooker. Add water. Cover pot.
Cook on LOW for 8 hours. If you want to serve this with gravy, remove meat when done, and thicken liquid with a mixture of flour and water and cook it in pot set at High for 15 minutes.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
