It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Love a Mounds candy bar? Try them baked into these from-scratch brownies for a real treat.

2 full-size Mounds candy bars, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup plain flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
Combine the candy bars and shortening in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until melted. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in the eggs and vanilla until well mixed.
Add the melted candy bar mixture to the flour mixture and stir well. Stir in the chopped chocolate and nuts.
Pour the brownie batter into the greased baking pan. Place the pan in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes or until baked.
Remove the pan from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
