How has the breakfast combination of cereal and waffles not taken the world by storm earlier? Throwing in nuts and raisins keeps every bite of the waffles interesting and helps make this an impressively balanced breakfast.

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoon sugar
2 cups bran cereal flakes
3 eggs
2 1/4 cups milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
3/4 cup raisins
Preheat a waffle iron as directed by the manufacturer.
In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and bran flakes. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and oil. Mix until well blended. While stirring, add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and mix until smooth.
Fold in the pecans and raisins.
Spoon the batter onto the heated waffle iron and bake until done. Repeat with remaining batter. Keep the waffles warm while preparing the remaining waffles.
Serve the waffles warm with desired toppings.

Very good. I added 1tsp. pumpkin pie spice which I made up from equal parts ginger, nutmeg, cinammon, and cloves. Out of pecans, so used walnuts. Have made these several times now and never disappointed. Freeze very well too.
