Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup instant rice
1 cup finely chopped onion
1 can (10.5 ounce size) tomato soup, condensed, divided
1/4 cup 2% low-fat milk
1/4 cup sugar or sugar substitute, divided
1 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Spray a 11 x 7-inch baking dish with butter-flavored cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine meat, rice, onion, 2/3 can of the condensed tomato soup, milk, 1 tablespoon sugar, parsley flakes, salt and pepper. Mix well to combine. Pat into baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine ketchup, remaining 3 tablespoons sugar and remaining tomato soup. Spoon over meat loaf. Bake for another 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
