Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

1-2 hrs
ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (12 or 16 ounce size) whole kernel corn, drained
4 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the beef and onion in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is cooked and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease then transfer the beef mixture to a 6-cup baking dish.
Evenly spread the corn and potatoes over the top of the beef mixture.
In a saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter. Stir in the flour and mix until incorporated. Slowly whisk in the milk. Add the salt, paprika, and pepper.
Pour the milk mixture over the top of the potatoes. Cover the baking dish with foil and place in the oven. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours. Remove the foil during the last 10 minutes and cook until the potatoes are browned.
Serve hot.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
