ingredients

1 1/2 pound ground beef
1 can (10.75 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup
1 can (10.75 ounce size) cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup uncooked regular long-grain rice
2 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
canned French-fried onions

directions

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and onion and cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease then add the beef and onion to the crock pot.

Stir the cream soups, rice, water, soy sauce, onion, and celery into the crock pot. Sprinkle with the French-fried onions.

Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until heated through.

Serve hot.

Eh, this was ok. Kinda just a soupy beefy rice dinner. Salty but not really flavorful.

Okay, seriously, I'm not a good cook and I really don't know that much about cooking. So as long as I follow the recipe everything should come out right...wrong. This recipe said add 1/2 cup rice but by the time the 5 hours was over, the rice was the consistency of oatmeal. The flavor of the recipe was good but the texture...barely edible. I'm going to play around with this recipe, maybe add the rice the last hour, or use potatoes. I don't know...does anyone know what the correct way is for this recipe??

    • Uncooked rice will need longer than an hour to cook in the slow cooker. If you use instant rice, you could add it during the last hour, but regular rice (long grain) really needs more time.
