Skillet Steak With Onions And Mushrooms

ingredients
3 tablespoons pure olive oil, divided
2 large onions, halved and thinly sliced
1 package sliced fresh mushrooms, (8 ounce size)
1 1/2 pound top sirloin steak, about 1-inch thick
salt and pepper
directions
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook, stirring frequently, until soft and golden, about 5 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Remove to a plate and cover with foil.
Cut steak into serving pieces. Add remaining oil to skillet. Cook the steaks about 3 minutes per side for medium rare. To test, cut center of steak with the tip of a sharp knife.
Place a steak on each dinner plate. Top with onions and mushrooms.
