Peach-Nilla Delight

ingredients
1 package (11 ounce size)vanilla wafer cookies
1 can (15 ounce size) sliced peaches, drained
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, well beaten
1 container (12 ounce size) frozen whipped topping, thawed
directions
Place the cookies in a zip-top plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin until crumbled.
Place half of the crumbs in a 9x13 baking dish. Top with the peaches.
In a saucepan over low heat, combine the sugar and butter. Cook until melted.
Remove the pan from the heat and quickly whisk in the egg. Let the sugar mixture cool completely.
Fold the whipped topping into the cooled sugar mixture. Spread over the peaches.
Top with the remaining cookie crumbs.
Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill well before serving (about an hour).
