Pineapple Cherry Cola Salad

ingredients
1 can (15 ounce size) red tart cherries, undrained
1/2 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 package (6 ounce size) cherry gelatin powder
1 1/4 cup chilled cola
1 can (8 ounce size) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
1 cup chopped pecans
directions
Combine the cherries, water, and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
Add the cherry gelatin powder and stir until the gelatin has dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool.
Add the cola, pineapple, and pecans. Mix well then transfer to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator until set.
