Red Hot Gelatin

ingredients
2 packages (3 ounce size) cherry gelatin powder
4 cups hot water
1 cup Red Hots cinnamon candies
2 cups chopped celery
2 cups chopped apple
3/4 cup chopped pecans
directions
Dissolve the gelatin powder in 3 cups of the hot water. Dissolve red hots in remaining 1 cup water. Do not try to dissolve the gelatin and red hots together or the gelatin may not set up properly.
Mix the dissolved gelatin and red hots together, then let cool to room temperature.
Add remaining ingredients to gelatin. Pour into a 9 x 9 inch pan and refrigerate until firm.
Slice in squares to serve. Serve topped with whipped cream if desired.
