Pineapple And Coconut Better Than Sex Cake

ingredients
1 box (18.25 ounce size) yellow cake mix plus ingredients to prepare
1 cup sugar
1 can crushed pineapple in syrup
1/2 cup coconut
1 large box instant vanilla pudding mix
8 ounces Cool Whip
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 milk chocolate candy bar, shaved
directions
Prepare cake according to directions on box, and bake.
In a saucepan, mix the sugar and pineapple and bring it to a boil. Remove from heat and cool. While the cake is still warm, punch holes in it with a large fork. Pour pineapple mixture over top and sprinkle with coconut. Put in refrigerator to cool.
Prepare the pudding according to the directions, using 3 cups of milk. Pour pudding over the cake and let set. Put Cool Whip over top of cake and sprinkle with chopped pecans, and Hershey bar shavings. Cake is better if made a day in advance and refrigerated.
Variations: Any crushed fruit may be substituted for pineapple

This is the BEST cake recipe EVER! I have been using it for years! It is so easy to prepare and you can make so many variations with a delicious result every time. I don't know who started this recipe, but it is GENIUS! The cake is moist, the combination of ingridients is perfect, I have served it for dessert, breakfast with coffee, and a snack. Everyone I make it for LOVES it. For those about to bake (this cake), I salute you!

Everyone loves this cake. I don't put coconut in mine, and I've never put the chocolate on it, but I'm sure it's great that way too. On most days, it really is "Better"!!
At first I thought it odd to pour a warm concoction of pineapple and sugar onto a hot cake, and then to use pudding as a layer on top...But this cake blew my mind!!! It is so tasty and wonderful, I will keep this recipe in my family forever(and maybe even take credit for it)...

This is an old one that I used to make many years ago. Its marvelous. I dont use the chocolate and I add the coconut after the cool whip
