Dutch Bread Pudding

ingredients
6 slices day old bread
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons sugar, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
1/2 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup raisins, seedless
4 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions
Start oven at 350 degrees F. Grease 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
Cut crusts from bread and brush bread with melted butter or margarine. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoon sugar and the cinnamon. Cut each slice in quarters. Arrange layers in baking dish. Sprinkle each layer with raisins.
Beat eggs just enough to blend thoroughly. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup sugar, milk and vanilla. Continue stirring until sugar dissolves. Pour over bread and raisins.
Set baking dish in a pan containing 1" of hot water. Bake 55 to 60 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
Serve pudding warm or chilled.
