The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/4 cup plain flour
directions
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add flour and beat about 3 minutes. Pour batter into cast iron skillet which has been sprayed with no-stick cooking spray.
Bake at 300 degrees F for 1 hour. May be served plain, with ice cream or favorite fruit.
