Boiled Salted Chestnuts

ingredients
2 pounds dried chestnuts
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup salt, divided use
directions
Puncture or split chestnuts. Bring water to a boil in a 2 qt. saucepan and add nuts. Bring back to a boil and dump in 1/2 cup salt. Boil for 10 minutes.
Take off stove. Drain water and add 1/4 cup salt. Replace lid. Turn off burner and leave pan on warm burner until cool.
Serve. If any are left over, store in refrigerator.
