Skip the store bought blends and make your own blackening seasoning at home with spices you probably already have on hand.
1 1/2 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Combine all the ingredients and store in an airtight container.
To use, sprinkle on on fish, pork, steak, etc. before cooking. Works good on the grill or when cooking with cast iron. Use amount as desired.
