This Italian cheese is so versatile that it can be used in both sweet and savory recipes from cheesecakes to lasagnas.

1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 orange, zest of
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
1 extra large egg
2 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups miniature chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, cream butter, sugars and orange zest until light and creamy. Add egg and orange juice and mix to combine. Add all dry ingredients and mix well.
On low speed, add chocolate chips and nuts and mix until just incorporated.
Using a 1-ounce ice cream scoop, place 20 cookies on each silicone or parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for exactly 11 minutes, turning the pan halfway through.
These gems are gone in a bite or two. Use the mini chocolate chips because of the size of the cookie. The big ones seem to stick out and even burn a little on the bottom. Change it up with your favorite nut. These are a real crowd-pleaser.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

I can only get mini milk chocolate chips but felt that semisweet would be better with the orange so I finely chopped some semisweet. I think it worked ok but the chocolate was inconsistently chopped of course.
