Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I first made this recipe 40 or so years ago (in the late 60')I just found a note book I had written down in and decided to make again for a cookie swap since it was so very good, but the last ingredient was missing and so my search began. And here it is word for word and now my taste buds will enjoy once again in 2014. 5 stars. Anne
