  1. jennbeagle REVIEW:

This was a unusual casserole recipe that my family loved. I would recommend adding salt to the hashbrowns before cooking. I used a whole bag of hashbrowns and double the cheese because we are big cheese lovers. My teenagers and husband loved this recipe. I did not brown the hashbrowns and thought they were fine that way, but if you like crispy potatoes you might want to brown first. Great recipe!!!

Definitely not gourmet, but there is something about this comfort-food-like dish that might get us to prepare this again. One idea that was brought up was to make it into an overnight breakfast casserole by pouring an egg mixture over the whole works and letting it sit overnight (then baking as directed). No seasoning is called for in the recipe so keep that in mind. We salted the hashbrowns before topping with the burgers but the burgers also could have used some additional seasoning. We had 12 burgers fit perfectly into our pan, 10 would have left a gap on one side. We also partially cooked the hashbrowns before topping with the burgers (we put them in the oven for about 15 minutes first).
