The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups crushed pineapple in its own juice
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin
directions
Saute the onion in butter until soft. Stir in the cornstarch. Add the pineapple, stir, and heat until bubbly. Add the vinegar. Stir in the curry and cumin and heat for another minute or two.
