Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

2 oranges, juiced
1 ruby red grapefruit, juiced
1 lemon, juiced
2 limes, juiced
1 cup grapefruit vodka (see recipe below)
lemon juice for rimming glasses
super fine sugar for rim of glasses
fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Grapefruit Vodka
1 ruby red grapefruit
1 bottle plain vodka
Combine juiced oranges, grapefruit, lemon and limes in pitcher. Stir in vodka.
Take extra lemon juice and put on dessert plate. On another plate pour even layer of superfine sugar. Turn martini glasses upside down and swirl on plate with juice, then plate with sugar.
When ready to serve fill cocktail shaker 2/3 full with ice then 3/4 full with cocktail. Shake at least a full 30 seconds. Serve in rimmed glasses and garnish with mint sprig.
This drink is best when super cold and the ice dilutes it slightly. It is refreshingly tart and makes you pucker.
To Make Grapefruit Vodka:
I take 1 ruby red grapefruit and cut one half of it into 2 inch pieces and the other half I juice. Put the pieces and juice into a pitcher and pour bottle of plain vodka over it. Cover tightly with cling wrap leave at room temperature for one week stirring daily.
After 1 week, with back of wooden spoon press the grapefruit pieces against pitcher releasing all the liquid from them. Remove pieces of grapefruit and strain through fine mesh. Put back in empty vodka bottle and enjoy.
