Pizza night is always a favorite, especially when you have great tasting pizza from some of the most popular restaurants.

Here's a cute and inexpensive recipe for some fun on Christmas Eve. Let the kids mix together oatmeal, sugar, and colored sugar crystals and sprinkle it on the ground outside to help the reindeer guide Santa's sleigh to your house.
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals (for cake decorating)
In a small zipper food storage bag or empty shaker container, mix ingredients.
Add this poem:
"Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path will guide them on their way
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts next morn on Christmas Day!"
while many recipes for Magic Reindeer Food call for craft glitter, this ingredient can harm birds or wildlife if eaten. Substitute colored sugar crystals and be kind to animals!

Instead of sugar crystals, consider using seasonal-themed sprinkles or edible glitter for a festive touch.
Label the magic reindeer food clearly if you leave it out overnight to avoid confusion with actual food.
Encourage kids to be creative by making personalized bags or jars for family and friends.
If you are concerned about animals, place the food in an area less frequented by wildlife.
Write the poem on decorative paper and attach it to the gift.
Make it a family tradition by adding storytelling about Santa's reindeer to add to the magic of Christmas Eve.
Use biodegradable materials for packaging if possible to be environmentally friendly.
Wrap a small bag of magic reindeer food together with homemade cookies for Santa for a fun holiday gift.
Magic reindeer food is a fun, edible mix of oatmeal, sugar, and colored sugar crystals that children can sprinkle outside to attract Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve.
You can use instant oats if preferred, but regular rolled oats are slightly more visually appealing when sprinkled.
Instead of sugar crystals, you can use other edible decorations like colored sprinkles or jimmies. Just ensure they are food-safe and made for consumption as wildlife may come in contact with it if sprinkled outdoors.
You can add edible glitter or other colorful sprinkles to the mixture, but avoid non-edible glitter as it can harm wildlife.
Magic reindeer food can be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for several weeks.
You can make your own colored sugar by mixing granulated sugar with a few drops of food coloring and letting it dry.
You can package the magic reindeer food in decorative bags or jars, attaching the poem for a fun touch.
Yes, magic reindeer food is safe for birds and other wildlife because all the ingredients in the recipe as written are edible and non-toxic.
If rain or snow is expected, sprinkle the magic reindeer food just before bed so it has a chance to briefly attract the reindeer before being washed away. Seriously, it will kind of start to dissolve once it's mixed with moisture.
You can, but stick to ingredients that are safe for wildlife. Options like unsweetened coconut flakes or birdseed can be included.
Zipper Food Storage Bag: To mix and store the ingredients for the Magic Reindeer Food. This will help keep the mixture fresh and make it easy to sprinkle outside.
Measuring Cups: To measure the oatmeal, sugar, and sugar crystals needed for the recipe.
Mixing Bowl (optional): While not strictly necessary, a mixing bowl can be used to combine the ingredients before transferring them to the zipper bag, providing a larger space for mixing.
Spoon (optional): For stirring the mixture if using a bowl to make sure everything is well combined.
Shaker Container (optional): If you prefer to distribute the Magic Reindeer Food easily, an empty shaker container can be used to sprinkle the mixture outside.
Oatmeal Cookies: Use the same oatmeal concept by baking oatmeal cookies, which can be set out for Santa alongside the reindeer food.
Christmas Sugar Cookies: Make festive Christmas sugar cookies sprinkled with colored sugar crystals to echo the magic of the reindeer food.
Milk and Cookies: Pair the reindeer food experience by leaving out a glass of milk for Santa with the cookies, a Christmas tradition.
Hot Cocoa Bar: Set up a hot cocoa bar for the kids on Christmas Eve, adding toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles.
Christmas Printables: Create and print festive labels or poems to accompany the reindeer food, allowing kids to personalize their jars or bags before gifting.

This is a fun one for the kids! And I love that it's safe for any wildlife that might eat it (including any reindeer). If you live in a warmer climate you might attract some ants with it so don't let the kids sprinkle it too close to the house!
