1 cup lard
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups cornmeal
*DO NOT SUBSTITUTE SHORTENING FOR LARD
Melt lard and peanut butter. Stir in remaining ingredients. Optional additions include raisins, nuts, or birdseed.
Pour mixture into a pan and chill overnight. Then cut into squares to fit in suet basket and store unused portion in refrigerator.

When I have made home made suets I put them in the plastic square container from store bought suets and freeze them-that makes them easy to handle to put into the outdoor suet holder.

It would be nice to know what to do with it after it's made! In other words how to handle it.
