recipe tips

Try various types of bread for different flavors and textures.

For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes to the butter mixture.

Brush the edges of the bread with olive oil before adding the butter mix to enhance flavor.

Serve with a selection of dips like salsa or guacamole for a fun appetizer spread.

Make sure the butter comes to room temperature before mixing for easier blending.

For a cheesy version, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the butter mixture before broiling.

Serve the grilled ranch bread warm or just slightly cooled for the best taste experience.

Garnish with chopped fresh herbs after broiling for added color and flavor.

If you like a smoky flavor, use smoked paprika in the butter mixture.

common recipe questions

What is ranch salad dressing mix?

Ranch salad dressing mix is a powdered seasoning blend containing various herbs, spices, and flavorings typical of ranch dressing, such as buttermilk, garlic, onion, and parsley, designed to impart a creamy, tangy flavor to dishes.

What type of bread is best for grilled ranch bread?

French bread is ideal due to its crusty exterior and soft interior, but you can also use other types like Italian bread, ciabatta, or even hoagie or other sandwich rolls.

How do I store leftover grilled ranch bread?

Leftover grilled ranch bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but it is best enjoyed fresh. For longer storage, wrap in foil and refrigerate for up to a week.

Can the bread be reheated?

You can reheat the bread in a toaster oven or under the broiler for a short time to restore some of its crispiness without making it too dry.

Can I freeze grilled ranch bread?

Freezing is not recommended for grilled ranch bread as it can affect texture and flavor, especially after broiling. If you need to freeze it, do so before broiling, wrap it tightly, and then broil it after thawing.

What else can I add to the butter mixture?

Feel free to add additional ingredients such as minced garlic or fresh herbs like chives, parsley, or dill for extra flavor. Cheese such as grated Parmesan can also be mixed in.

How can I serve grilled ranch bread?

Grilled ranch bread can be served as an appetizer, side dish, or snack. It pairs well with soups, salads, or can be served on a charcuterie board.

Can I use margarine instead of butter?

You can substitute margarine for butter. However, the flavor might be slightly different, so choose a margarine that is rich and creamy for the best results.

Is it possible to make grilled ranch bread ahead of time?

You can prepare the butter mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to a week. When ready to serve, simply spread it onto the bread and proceed with broiling.

tools needed

Mixing Bowl: For combining the softened butter and dry ranch dressing mix.

Electric Mixer (optional): While mixing by hand works fine, an electric mixer can speed up the process and provide a fluffier texture.

Baking Sheet: To hold the French bread while it broils.

Butter Knife or Spatula: For spreading the butter and ranch mixture evenly over the cut sides of the French bread.

Cutting Board and Knife: For cutting the French bread in half lengthwise and for slicing it into serving pieces after broiling.

what goes with it?

Grilled Chicken: Serve the ranch bread alongside savory grilled chicken for a balanced meal.

Vegetable Platter: Pair the ranch bread with a fresh vegetable platter. The crunchy veggies serve as a refreshing contrast to the buttery bread and can be enjoyed with ranch dressing as a dip for added flavor.

Beef Sliders: Use the ranch bread as a base for mini beef sliders. The robust ranch flavor adds an extra layer of taste to the juicy sliders.

Spinach Artichoke Dip: Serve the bread with spinach artichoke dip. The richness of the dip complements the herby notes of the ranch bread.

Caesar Salad: Serve the ranch bread on the side of a Caesar salad. The flavors in the salad dressings pair well with the ranch seasoning in the bread.

Cheese Platter: Offer a variety of cheeses with the ranch bread. The creamy texture of cheeses pairs nicely with the buttery, herb-infused bread.

Bruschetta Toppings: Use the ranch bread with bruschetta-style toppings, such as diced tomatoes and basil. The ranch flavor will give a unique twist to this classic appetizer.

Chili: Serve the ranch bread as a side to a hearty bowl of chili. The bread acts as a vehicle for scooping up the chili and adds a flavorful contrast to the spiciness.

Garlic Butter Shrimp: Pair the ranch bread with garlic butter shrimp. The succulent shrimp paired with the savory ranch flavor creates an appealing combination.

beverage pairings

Wine Pairings
Chardonnay: A lightly oaked Chardonnay will pair nicely here. Look for one with buttery notes that will go beautifully with the richness of the butter on your grilled ranch bread.

Sauvignon Blanc: A crisp Sauvignon Blanc is fresh and zesty, cutting through the richness of the butter mix nicely. Look for ones with citrusy flavors like lime and green apple to brighten up every bite.

Pinot Grigio: This unoaked white wine usually has a fruity and refreshing taste that's not too heavy. It will gently enhance the flavors in the bread while balancing the buttery notes, making for a great, easy-going pairing.

Other Alcohol Pairings
IPA: An India Pale Ale has a hoppy bitterness that can really lift rich ingredients like butter. The hoppy flavors will complement the ranch mix.

Vodka Soda: A simple vodka soda is another option that won't overwhelm your taste buds.

Whiskey Sour: With its balance of sweetness from the bourbon and acidity from the citrus, a whiskey sour is robust enough to match the grilled ranch bread.

Non-Alcoholic Pairings
Sparkling Water: Simple as it sounds, sparkling water adds some fizz and helps to refresh your palate while you enjoy that buttery goodness.

Herbal Iced Tea: An herbal iced tea keeps it breezy and pairs nicely with the flavors in your grilled bread, particularly if you opt for something like lemon or peach flavors.

Apple Juice: Unsweetened apple juice can make a pleasant contrast to the buttery richness of your ranch bread. The apple's brightness adds a touch of sweetness that works nicely here.

  1. Valerie REVIEW:

That's right, we're giving this recipe 5 stars even though it is so simple and seems like something Sandra Lee would make. We'll be honest though - it was good! The ranch flavor is subtle and we liked that it was a garlicky bread without being too garlicky (like some garlic breads end up). It's a great recipe to throw together at the last minute. Would go great along side an Italian meal or served as an hors d'oeuvre
