The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

This recipe doubles very easily and it's always requested at pot lucks. Love it.

We have made this for potlucks for several years. Always a hit. Double it if for a large crowd like a block party.

Made the Church pot luck baked beans for a bbq last night. I fried the bacon and sauted the onions the night before and added all the other ingredients and let marinade overnight in the fridge. Baked them yesterday and they were wonderful. I love "tweeking" recipes but this one doesn't need it at all to improve the flavor. I made enough for 85 people and they were a big hit to all.
