A classic peppered, white cream gravy. Delicious on biscuits or chicken fried steak

2 tablespoons butter or bacon fat
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Melt the butter (or bacon fat) in a saucepan over medium-high heat. When melted, add the flour slowly while whisking. Cook, stirring constantly, until the flour is lightly browned. Remove the pan from the heat.
While stirring, slowly add the milk. Return the pan to the heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the gravy thickens. While stirring, add the heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.
Mix well. Keep warm over very low heat until serving.

This gravy is very smooth and delicious. I used bacon grease and it was so good. My husband really liked it and that makes it a keeper!
