crock pot notes

Crock pots/slow cookers all heat differently. There is no standard among manufacturers. Cooking times are suggested guidelines based on our testing. Please adjust cooking times and temps to work with your brand and model of slow cooker.

recipe tips

For added flavor, saute the garlic in a little butter before adding it to the gravy mixture.

Try different types of onion soup mix, such as French onion or golden onion, for variety.

Add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or balsamic vinegar to the gravy mixture for extra flavor.

For a creamier sauce, stir in a spoonful of sour cream or cream cheese before serving.

Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley or grated Parmesan cheese before serving.

If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix a tablespoon of cornstarch with a little cold water and stir into the crock pot during the last hour of cooking.

Crock Pot: This magical device will do all the heavy lifting for you, cooking your frozen meatballs to without any effort on your part.

Bowl: You'll need a bowl to mix together the beef gravy, minced garlic, water, and onion soup mix. Make sure it's big enough to comfortably stir everything together.

Stirring Spoon: A utensil for stirring the gravy, garlic, water, and onion soup mix in the bowl.

what goes with it?

Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes: the creamy, garlicky potatoes will provide a nice contrast to the savory meatballs.

Crusty Bread: perfect for soaking up every last bit of that delicious beefy onion sauce.

Steamed Broccoli: add a pop of green and a healthy side to balance out the richness of the meatballs and gravy.

Buttered Egg Noodles: a classic pairing with meatballs that allows you to fully embrace your inner carb lover. The noodles will soak up the flavorful sauce.

beverage pairings

Wine Pairings
Merlot: Why? Merlot's smooth, velvety texture and medium body can easily complement the rich flavors of the meatballs and onion sauce. Look for one with a hint of cherry and plum for an extra layer of flavor.

Chardonnay: If you prefer white wine, a buttery Chardonnay can bring a touch of elegance to this hearty dish. The creamy texture pairs well with the gravy, while the subtle oak notes can enhance the garlic and onion flavors.

Cabernet Sauvignon: For those who enjoy bolder red wines, a Cabernet Sauvignon with its dark fruit flavors and firm tannins can hold its own against the savory meatballs and rich sauce. Look for one with a touch of spice for an added kick.

Other Alcohol Pairings
Dark Lager: A dark lager with its malty sweetness and roasted notes can be a great match for this dish. The caramel flavors can complement the beef gravy.

Whiskey: The smoky and robust flavors of whiskey can provide a nice contrast to the savory meatballs and onion sauce. Look for a bourbon with hints of caramel and vanilla to add depth to the dish.

Red Ale: A red ale with its caramel malt sweetness and slight bitterness can balance out the flavors of the meatballs and onion sauce. The toasty notes in the beer can also enhance the garlic and onion elements.

Non-Alcoholic Pairings
Root Beer: The sweet and slightly spicy notes of root beer can be a fun non-alcoholic option to pair with this dish. The carbonation can also help cut through the richness of the gravy and meatballs.

Green Tea: A hot cup of green tea can provide a refreshing and cleansing element to your meal. The subtle herbal notes can enhance the savory aspects of the dish without overpowering them.

Too salty but I like the idea of how easy it is. Maybe homemade gravy instead of the jarred kind.
