A quick and easy way to make snow cones is with this recipe by turning powdered drink mix (like Kool-aid) into a sweet syrup.
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup water
1 envelope (.14 ounce size) unsweetened flavored drink mix
ice, crushed
Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the drink mix. Mix well. Let cool then place the mixture in the refrigerator to chill completely.
When the liquid is chilled, finely crush some ice in a blender.
Place the crushed ice in bowls and evenly drizzle the snow cone syrup over the top of the ice.
Serve with a spoon.
