This creamy ice cream has almost a light, coffee flavor to it from the Guinness. It's definitely a grown-up flavor of ice cream, but even beer-haters will enjoy it.

2 3/4 cups Guinness stout
1 large egg
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 cups cream
Boil Guinness until reduced to 2 cups. Cool until just warm.
Combine egg and sugar in a bowl. Stir in milk, then mix into the warm Guinness reduction. Stir in cream. Chill for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Process in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions.t.

We had a beer themed birthday party for my husband. Beer was in EVERYTHING. This was one of the desserts and he loved it.

Given that Guinness has such a strong flavor I was curious how this recipe would turn out. The end result was a subtle flavor with a creamy texture. It's an ice cream you could eat plain or serve with a pastry or dessert.
