It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

- add review
- #9906
30-60 minutes
ingredients
3 eggs
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
2 cups whipping cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 amaretti cookies, crumbled
1/3 cup amaretto liqueur
directions
Beat eggs and milk together in a large saucepan. Add sugar. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened, about 10 min. (Mixture should smoothly coat the back of a wooden spoon). Cool, then add cream and vanilla. Chill thoroughly.
Begin soaking cookies in liqueur. Pour custard into ice cream maker; begin processing according to manufacturer's directions. About 1/3 of the way through, add the cookies, along with some (not all) of the liqueur. Continue processing. When processed, stir in remaining liqueur. Spoon mixture into airtight freezer container and freeze thoroughly.

Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
