A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

Tavern beef is like a classier name for a sloppy Joe. Ground beef cooked with onion, ketchup, and spices in the crockpot makes a yummy topping for toasted burger buns.

2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large onion, peeled and quartered
1 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups beef broth or water
8 hamburger buns, toasted
In a skillet, brown and crumble ground beef; drain well. Place beef and remaining ingredients except hamburger rolls in a crock pot.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 12 hours. Taste for seasoning before serving and correct if necessary. Spoon over toasted hamburger buns.

Love buffalo wings? Get that same hot, zippy flavor in everything from deviled eggs to enchiladas. And of course: wings.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
