Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Curried Beef In A Pita

ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
salt, to taste
1 egg
1 cup plain yogurt or sour cream
6 whole individual pita breads
Accompaniments
chopped apple
raisins
mango chutney (cut up any large pieces)
directions
Brown ground beef in a nonstick skillet sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Add garlic and onion and cook until onion is tender. Drain off any excess fat and discard.
Add ground ginger, curry powder, and salt. Cover and cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, beat the egg and blend in yogurt, stirring constantly. Add to meat mixture. Cook over low heat for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, but do not let boil.
Cut individual pitas in half. Let each person fill a pita with the ground beef curry and top with accompaniments of their choice.
