Ever wondered how to make your festivities genuinely sparkle? Try your hand at these buttery cookies; they might just become a seasonal staple.
1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter with a mixer on medium speed until fluffy. With the mixer running, slowly add the sugar, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
With the mixer still running, add the egg, milk, and vanilla and mix until well combined.
In a bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixer with the mixer running.
Chill the cookie dough for 1-2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters and place the cookies on a baking sheet.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until just lightly browned. Remove from the baking sheet and place on cooling racks to cool completely. Decorate as desired. Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container.
