ingredients
2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 pound butter
2 each eggs, beaten
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup warm water
4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cherry pie filling
directions
Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
Beat sugar and butter. Add eggs and mix together.
Dissolve baking soda in the warm water and add alternately with flour, salt, and vanilla.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet, pressing center with thumb. Fill center with 1/2 teaspoon of cherry pie filling. Top each cookie with 1/2 teaspoon cookie dough.
This will spread on top and the cherry will show through. Very pretty cookie. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
