Butter Mints Recipe

Serves/Makes: 10
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons butter (not margarine)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup evaporated milk
flavorings/food colors
1 pound confectioners sugar
Directions:
Melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and add salt and evaporated milk -- mix well. Add a few drops of flavoring and/or food color you desire; mix well. Add box of powdered sugar and make sure it is well combined. Place on hard surface and knead until consistency to roll. Here you can do one of two things: 1.Roll out to a 1/4 inch thick. Cut with small cutter to desired size/shape. Decorate. OR 2. Divide mixture in half. Rolling the dough under your hands form a long "log" between 1/4 and 1/2 inch thick. Snip bite-size pieces off with kitchen scissors. Do same to remaining mixture. Keep in container with tight-fitting lid -- glass jars work well.
