Root Beer Cake

ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup root beer
FROSTING
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk (or more as needed)
1/3 cup root beer, chilled
directions
For Cake: Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Blend at low speed, then beat for 3 minutes at medium speed.
Pour into a greased and floured 12" x 8" pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes. Apply frosting to cooled cake.
For Frosting: In a medium bowl, beat together butter, salt, powdered sugar and milk. Blend in root beer and beat until desired consistency.
Spread onto cooled cake.
