It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

If ever a cake could inspire someone to belt out the Star-Spangled Banner at the top of their lungs, this would be the one. Strawberry stripes, blueberry stars, and one undeniably All-American dessert.

1 package (18.25 ounce size) yellow cake mix
1 1/4 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 tub ready-to-spread vanilla frosting
1/2 cup blueberries
1 pint strawberries or raspberries, sliced
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and eggs. Beat on low speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Remove the pan from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for 1 hour or until completely cool.
If desired, remove the cake from the pan. Frost the top (and sides if cake is removed).
Decorate the top of the cake with the blueberries and strawberries in a flag design. Place the blueberries in the upper left corner to represent the stars and place the sliced strawberries in lines to represent the stripes. If you have frosting leftover, pipe it onto the blueberries with a star tip.
Serve the cake immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
