ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 1/2 cup applesauce
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
milk
directions
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cream butter and sugar together. Add remaining cake ingredients and blend well.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 9" pan and bake for 30-40 minutes until cake tests done. Cool.
For Frosting: Mix all ingredients together, adding enough milk to make it of spreading consistency. Frost cake.
